What Is A World Contract?

A World Contract is the rulebook of a sovereign world.

It defines what exists, what can change, who can change it, and how the world responds when players or systems take actions.

State

State is the current condition of the world: characters, inventories, buildings, markets, quests, permissions, and other shared facts.

Mutations

Mutations are allowed changes to state. Examples include moving an item, completing a quest, changing a building, resolving combat, or updating a marketplace order.

Permissions

Permissions define who can perform each kind of action. Some actions may be available to all players. Others may require ownership, governance approval, operator authority, or contributor roles.

Governance

Governance defines how the world evolves. It can describe who may publish upgrades, how rule changes are reviewed, and how communities keep continuity when the world changes.
