The Continuity Engine is how an EverArcade world remembers itself.
Instead of treating each session as temporary, EverArcade focuses on living world history: what changed, who changed it, and how the world should continue from there.
What continuity feels like
Continuity is visible in the world. It is not only a database feature; it is the reason places become meaningful:
- Buildings age, become restored, are repurposed, or turn into ruins with stories attached.
- Roads emerge because travelers repeatedly choose the same path.
- Institutions persist as towns, guilds, courts, markets, and councils outlive individual sessions.
- Economies evolve as players discover supply chains, scarcity, trusted roles, and regional advantages.
- Myths form when communities retell victories, betrayals, migrations, disasters, and discoveries.
- Ruins accumulate where settlements fail, battles scar the map, or old infrastructure falls out of use.
- Historical significance emerges when ordinary player actions become context for future decisions.
- Forests spread when left alone and recede when harvested.

Example continuity arcs
A city becomes old
A settlement starts as a resource camp, grows into a trade hub, builds roads and walls, survives leadership changes, and eventually contains districts from different eras. Its value is not just the buildings; it is the accumulated evidence that people lived there.
A road becomes infrastructure
Players repeatedly travel between two regions. The path becomes visible, traders rely on it, bandits contest it, operators preserve the history around it, and future developers can build systems that treat the road as part of the world.
A ruin becomes culture
A failed fortress remains on the map. New players ask why it exists. Veterans tell the story. Designers add mechanics around salvage, pilgrimage, or contested memory. The world becomes richer because history stayed available.
